TikTok offers users the ability to quickly post time-limited content to their profile. Many users like to create and post time-limited content to quickly capture and share an idea or thought.

Often times, the time-limited nature of this content is counter-intuitive to what the user ultimately wants to accomplish. The user may want to capture the content before it is permanently removed to ensure they have a copy. This could also be the case for a user that has been given permission to save a time-limited piece of content that was posted by someone other than themselves.

If you do want to download it, you can select the result to tell Tokvera to download it. Your browser will handle saving the video file.

So the whole process is copying, pasting, and checking the results.

Why Can’t Some TikTok Stories be Downloaded?


Story links have a time window in which they remain usable. A story may have expired and/or been deleted by the time a user attempts to download it. There are other possibilities as well. The story may have been set by the creator to only be viewable by a select number of users. The story link that the user wishes to download may have even been copied incorrectly.

If Tokvera is unable to download the story, I would recommend that the user check the story on TikTok to ensure it is set to be viewable by the public.

Difference between a TikTok Video and a TikTok Story


There are differences between the two. A normal TikTok video can be posted multiple times and remains available on the creator’s profile.

Stories are meant to be posted temporarily.
